The Pacific Northwest Section of the American Water Works Association was founded in 1927 and provides leadership to drinking water professionals in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington in the areas of:

  • Water quality and distribution
  • Water resource policy
  • Conservation
  • Engineering

PNWS is governed by its 3,000 members and its programs are carried out by hundreds of member volunteers, assisted by staff located in Vancouver, Washington. On this website you can learn more about the organization, its history, and guiding policies.

The PNWS-AWWA will be the recognized leader of the drinking water profession in the Pacific Northwest for safe and high quality drinking water.

Mission

PNWS-AWWA is dedicated to providing leadership to the drinking water profession in the Pacific Northwest in areas of drinking water quality, water resource policy, customer service and water-related planning issues.

PNWS is one of 43 sections in North America that comprise AWWA, a highly respected, reasearch driven water authority since 1881.
